Projekt Hoch 4 receives SolaX ESS units for 5 MW/10 MWh standalone project in Germany

German EPC contractor Projekt Hoch 4 Energy GmbH has received SolaX battery storage equipment for a 5 MW/10 MWh standalone project in Mittelbiberach, Baden-Württemberg, southern Germany. The project is currently being connected to the grid.

The two-hour installation uses SolaX’s ORI Utility All-in-One ESS (ORI-P5000B10030L). Designed to operate independently of any specific solar or wind installation, the system targets spot-market trading and energy arbitrage, with potential participation in grid-support and ancillary services.

Unlike storage systems primarily used to absorb on-site solar generation, the battery is designed to charge when market prices are low and discharge when prices rise.

The Mittelbiberach installation is the third utility-scale storage project under the current cooperation between Projekt Hoch 4 and SolaX. The broader group of standalone BESS projects in Germany includes sites in Achstetten and the Biberach region.

The ORI platform integrates storage and power-conversion functions to simplify engineering, installation and commissioning. The system also features a custom dark-green enclosure selected to better suit the surrounding environment.

“For standalone storage, technical integration has a direct impact on project execution and long-term operation,” said Peter Beitlrock of Projekt Hoch 4. “Our focus is on deploying storage assets that can operate flexibly in the German power market while maintaining a clear and efficient EPC structure.”

“Storage projects are increasingly being assessed not only by how much energy they can hold, but by how flexibly that capacity can be used across different market opportunities,” said Andrey Yang, Director of Utility Scale BESS Business Line at SolaX.
