Growatt has launched MINA, a single-phase all-in-one residential energy storage system combining a hybrid inverter, modular battery storage, backup power and intelligent energy management.
The company is targeting rooftop solar markets in Europe and Australia, where time-of-use tariffs, lower solar export payments and rising electricity prices are increasing demand for household self-consumption and energy resilience.
MINA is available with inverter output ranging from 3 kW to 10 kW. Its battery can be configured with one to six 5 kWh modules, providing total usable storage capacity of between 5 kWh and 30 kWh.
The system supports three maximum power point trackers, with one string connected to each tracker, and a maximum DC-to-AC ratio of 2.0. Maximum input current is 18 A per tracker, allowing the inverter to accommodate newer high-current PV modules.
Growatt said its battery optimizer technology manages each module independently. This is designed to reduce the effect of differences in state of charge, operating history or ageing between battery modules. It also allows homeowners to add new modules to an existing system as household demand increases.
Potential expansion scenarios include the addition of electric vehicles, heat pumps, home offices or higher backup requirements. The architecture enables customers to install a smaller system initially rather than paying for the maximum capacity at the time of commissioning.
MINA provides a 63 A backup connection and can supply selected household loads during grid outages. A preliminary European datasheet lists a transfer time of less than 10 milliseconds, intended to maintain operation of lighting, refrigeration, communications and other essential equipment with minimal interruption.
The system incorporates self-aligning connectors and a wire-free stacked battery architecture. Growatt claims the hardware can be stacked in around 10 minutes, with system setup and diagnostics completed in a similar period. It can be installed on the floor or mounted against a wall.
Other features include Type II surge protection on both the AC and DC sides, arc-fault protection, natural cooling and remote monitoring. Users and installers can view PV generation, battery status, household consumption and operating performance through Growatt’s monitoring platform.
The system is also virtual-power-plant ready. Growatt lists a 25-kW bidirectional DC charging function for future vehicle-to-grid applications, although this feature is not yet commercially available.
Growatt has already presented MINA in Australia. The latest announcement broadens its commercial positioning across Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Australia and other residential storage markets.
