Qair has signed a three-year agreement with French battery analytics company PowerUp to deploy battery monitoring software across four BESS projects under construction in Mauritius.
The agreement follows a benchmarking process conducted by Qair to identify a battery analytics platform for its storage portfolio.
Under the terms of the deal, Qair’s asset management teams will use PowerUp’s Battery Insight software to monitor battery performance, lifetime and safety across the projects, which Qair will own and operate.
PowerUp said its software uses advanced algorithms to analyse operational BESS data, supporting applications including energy arbitrage, frequency regulation and demand response. The platform provides predictive performance, endurance and safety indicators designed to support maintenance planning, optimise operating strategies and improve asset lifecycle management.
The agreement also includes commissioning support services intended to help verify battery performance during testing and accelerate commercial operation. According to PowerUp, its predictive safety monitoring system can detect battery faults and identify risks up to 12 months earlier than conventional monitoring methods.
The first project covered by the framework agreement is Stor’Sun, a 391 MWh BESS project owned and operated by Qair. The storage asset forms part of Mauritius’ strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in its electricity mix to 60% by 2030.
