Hoymiles releases a 2 MWh C&I energy storage solution

Chinese storage and solar manufacturer Hoymiles has announced a new commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage solution that starts with higher capacities than have been common in the field.

Named HoyUltra 2000M, the new solution comes in 15 versions with storage capacities from 2 MWh to 2.61 MWh. Rated AC output ranges from 500 kW to 1.25 MW, with configurations supporting AC voltages of 380/400 V, 690 V and 800 V. The system uses 314 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells from an unnamed supplier.

“As C&I energy storage projects become more diverse, customers need solutions that go beyond storage capacity,” said Rex Zhu, general manager of Hoymiles’ Residential and C&I Energy Storage Business. “Electrical conditions, installation requirements, multi-energy integration, backup power, and operating environments all need to be taken into account.”

The new product integrates the battery, power conversion system (PCS), thermal management, static transfer switch (STS), and fire protection system. The STS enables switching to backup power in less than 20 ms to maintain a continuous power supply.

“The system uses liquid cooling for both the PCS and the battery, with an operating temperature range of -30 C to 55 C,” the company said. “It maintains its rated power up to 50 C. It is also equipped with a cabinet-level fire protection system, including smoke and temperature detection, fire suppression, interlocked ventilation and an explosion pressure relief device for the compartment.”

All versions measure 6,058 mm × 2,591 mm × 2,438 mm and weigh 22,700 to 26,000 kg, depending on the configuration. The containers have an IP55 protection rating and C5 corrosion resistance. They operate at altitudes up to 2,000 m.
