Conow, a residential storage brand backed by Chinese smart-home software giant Tuya Smart, has launched its Atlas 6000 AC home battery in Germany. Tuya, a New York-listed company with a $1 billion market cap that builds the white-label smartphone apps and cloud backends behind thousands of everyday IoT items, is using the Conow brand to push directly into residential battery hardware.
The AC-coupled system targets households with existing rooftop solar looking to add storage without replacing their legacy string inverters, alongside consumers chasing spreads on dynamic electricity tariffs.
The unit stores 6.28 kWh using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells and houses an integrated 3 kW bidirectional AC inverter. Measuring 805 mm x 315 mm x 256 mm and weighing 55.9 kg, the fanless system is rated IP65 for outdoor use and operates between -20 C and 50 C, with an internal heating film to assist cold-weather use, at the expense of efficiency.
Conow claims a round-trip efficiency of 87.2% and offers a 10-year warranty, rating the cells for 10,000 cycles. Safety features include thermal isolation between the inverter and battery pack, alongside an internal aerosol fire-suppression module.
Out of the box, the Atlas 6000 AC plugs into a standard German household Schuko socket or normal outlet, throttling grid feed-in to the 800 W regulatory limit for plug-in storage devices while still allowing up to 3 kW of charging. Discharging at the full power output requires hardwiring by an electrician. Up to 10 units can be linked wirelessly for 60 kWh of capacity, or three units can be paired for a 9 kW/18 kWh three-phase setup.
With the system running on Tuya’s backend, Conow is pitching third-party compatibility as its core advantage. Rather than locking homeowners into a single hardware brand, its software connects with existing inverters from SMA, Fronius, and FoxESS, optical smart-meter readers, and compatible heat pumps and EV chargers, though firm connectivity will depend on exact details.
The Atlas 6000 AC is available through German online distributors including Tepto, Sonnenmatrix, and Solfuerza, priced between €1,239 and €1,299 (at 0% VAT under Germany’s residential solar tax exemption).
