Frankfurt-based Revolta has installed and commissioned its first sodium-ion home battery at a customer property near Aschaffenburg, Germany.
The high-voltage system, oeprating at a nominal voltage of 450 V, comprises five battery modules with a combined capacity of 10 kWh. While not setting any records for installation size, the sodium-ion storage system rollout continues and provides both Revolta and the industry a look at customer site usage, with operating data to follow.
The property already has around 20 kW of solar PV and a small hydroelectric plant housed in a former mill. The hydro plant has supplied the family with electricity since 2017.

According to Revolta, the owner had been waiting specifically for a suitable sodium-ion home battery, with greater energy independence given as the motivation. Revolta team members Julian Mattheis and Florina Thaler carried out the installation and commissioning.
Each 2 kWh battery module weighs 18.7 kg and has IP64 protection according to the data sheet, with the installation using an SMA inverter. Each module uses only three battery cells, and batteries are charged and discharged at 0.4 C (or 2.5 hour power duration). In this 10 kWh configuration, a maxium 4 kW power output could be expected.
Energy density is published at 141 Wh/l, 107 Wh/kg.
Further installations at selected customer sites across Germany are planned over the coming weeks. Revolta is supplying pilot customers with an additional measuring device at no charge to collect data on how the systems perform in daily operation. The findings will feed into development of its battery management system and firmware.
The company describes the installation as the start of its commercial launch, although the rollout remains at the pilot stage. Its announcement did not disclose pricing, rated power, cycle life or efficiency figures.

Pricing and availability
Revolta notes it is sold out for 2026, but offers resevations for 2027, with priority for those who make a downpayment.
The company publishes a list price of €599 per 2 kWh module, and lists a price for give modules for the 10 kWh installation at €2,995, though this does not include the balance of system needed for an installation.
Funding
Just a few weeks ago, Revolta was granted funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) via the German state of Hesse. The funding is earmarked for a project focused on a “highly efficient AC salt battery.”
