Skyborn Renewables has become the sole owner of the 111-MW Nordergruende offshore wind farm in the German North Sea after acquiring the 70% stake it did not have, the Hamburg-based developer said on Monday.

The Nordergruende farm was commissioned in 2017 and has been so far 30% owned by Skyborn and 70% by other investors. The facility consists of 18 turbines and generates enough electricity to supply around 90,000 households.
Via the acquisition, Skyborn gains full control over the optimisation and long-term management of the wind farm at a time when the asset requires investments to maximise performance.
With the transaction, Skyborn solidifies its position as a fully integrated offshore wind infrastructure platform, covering the entire value chain from development and construction to long-term ownership and operation. The deal is in line with the company’s strategy to develop, build, own and operate offshore wind assets in core markets.
The transaction was completed soon after Skyborn agreed to sell a 25% stake in the 976.5-MW Gennaker offshore wind project in the German Baltic Sea to municipal utility company Stadtwerke Muenchen (SWM).
