Hithium opens new long-duration energy storage industrial park in China

Hithium has opened its long-duration energy storage (LDES) industrial park in Shandong, China, promising end-to-end integration from materials to cells to systems.

The Heze Base facility has been purpose-built for LDES, according to Hithium , spans approximately 80 hectares and represents an investment of over RMB 13 billion ($1.9 billion).

The facility incorporates LFP battery cell manufacturing, module and system integration, new material processing and upstream raw material processing.

Hithium claims its fifth generation production line installed on site is the industry’s first to exceed 15 GWh singe line capacity. This has led to a 50% reduction in floor space per GWh and 58% reduction in production manpower, according to the company. The new production line is also expected to deliver a 13% reduction in manufacturing energy consumption and 200% efficiency improvement compared to the previous generation.

The automation rate now exceeds 95% and Hithium said its more than 1,000 quality control checkpoints are reinforced by AI-powered visual inspection.

Hithium first announced its push into long-duration energy storage in December 2025, when the manufacturer unveiled its 1,300 Ah cell, integrated long-duration system, and lithium-sodium LDES solution for AI data centers.

The cell and integrated LDES have been developed specifically for eight-hour applications. Hithium described its ∞Power8 6.9 MW/55.2 MWh system as the world’s first “native” eight-hour lithium battery solution.

Speaking at the launch of the LDES production line, Hithium co-founder and president Wang Pengcheng said the rollouts marked a new phase for scalable manufacturing at Heze Base. The company wants to “fully unleash the manufacturing potential of thousand-ampere-hour large-capacity products” to support global delivery of large-scale, lithium-based LDES.
