Energy storage technology company Hinen has launched its A15 Residential Energy Storage System in the UK, introducing a scalable, installer‑focused appliance designed to support solar‑powered homes and expand household energy independence.
The A15 pairs Hinen’s A-series of hybrid inverters with the B15 high-voltage battery module. Each B15 battery module has a nominal capacity of 14.4 kWh and an initial usable capacity of 13.68 kWh, and supports modular expansion, with up to six batteries connected in parallel, for a total usable capacity of 82.08 kWh (86.4 kWh nominal), making it one of the largest in the UK.
Each B15 LFP battery weighs 117 kilograms, and comes with handles, while the inverter weight depends on the choice of A-series inverter, which include single-phase and three-phase options, ranging from 3.6 kW to 15 kW power output on single-phase.
Inverters at 3.6 kW output can suit the UK because they fall under G98 regulations, allowing installers to fit them first and notify the DNO afterward, bypassing sometimes lengthy pre-approval processes. However, higher-power outputs are becoming more popular as DNOs allow them.
A15 specifications
Featuring a 180mm profile, and compact footprint, the A15 is tailored for installations in garages, utility rooms and other small-spaced areas. The system supports wall or floor mounting, with adjustable feet for flexible installation.
Hinen states that the battery is rated for more than 8,000 cycles, carries a 12-year warranty, and does not require an external battery management system (BMS), reducing wiring complexity and installation time for residential projects.
The A15 uses battery heating to operate in temperatures as low as –20 °C, housed in an IP65‑rated enclosure with a five‑layer protection system designed for varied installation environments.
According to Hinen’s website, the A15 contains a built-in breaker, automatic fault isolation to keep the system running if a single battery fails, and internal aerosol fire suppression.
The A15 allows users to monitor real-time energy usage through its Hinen App, which also allows for over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates. The system supports applications such as solar self-consumption, EV chargers and heat pumps.

The A15 was unveiled by Hinen during a live online event focused on installers, attended by the company’s technical team, UK distributors and installers, industry representatives and homeowners. The session included installation and commissioning demonstrations, and insights from Hinen’s market experience in Australia, and introductory pricing for installers.
