Zhero has signed a framework agreement with Tesla Energy, in collaboration with H1 Holdings, for approximately 3 GWh of battery energy storage capacity in Italy. The companies announced the deal to pv magazine.
“The framework agreement covers storage projects totaling around 3 GWh, starting with 200 MW of shovel-ready plants. The initiative combines the expertise of H1 Holdings—a leading South African developer and independent power producer (IPP)—with Zhero’s pipeline of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Italy,” the companies told pv magazine Italy.
According to Zhero, the projects will be backed by long-term purchase agreements, ensuring market access while reducing reliance on regulated support mechanisms such as MACSE.
Tesla Energy will supply Megapack batteries for the projects. Zhero is currently developing utility-scale storage projects exceeding 1.5 GW and is expanding its presence in the commercial and industrial flexibility market, the company stated.
“This marks a pivotal step in the transformation we have anticipated from the start: evolving from mere developers into true owners and operators,” commented Daniele Moriconi, CEO of Zhero’s Battery Storage division.
