Swiss developer Delta Capacity has confirmed contractors and suppliers for its second major Finnish battery storage project as construction gets underway.
Construction has begun on the 125 MW / 300 MWh Kärppiö battery energy storage system (BESS) located in Teuva, western Finland, approximately 370 km northwest of Helsinki. It is being developed by Delta Capacity and the Strioga Family Foundation, with Sungrow supplying the BESS technology. Commissioning is planned for Q4 2027, with Delta Capacity set to serve as long-term asset manager.
Delta Capacity confirmed Sungrow’s supply of batteries for the project, along with Nordic electrification specialist NEPower serving as balance-of-plant (BoP) contractor, as well as delivering electrification and substation works. Despro is acting as the local engineering partner.
On the revenue front for Kärppiö, and under a different financing model than the AKKU One project, Delta Capacity has a partial tolling agreement with Centrica Energy that will optimize and trade the asset across Nordic power markets.
Sungrow’s own press release provided further confirmation that it will also supply the BESS technology but didn’t specify the type, including for the 125 MW / 300 MWh AKKU One project, located in Lapinlahti, approximately 450 km northeast of Helsinki. The AKKU One BESS was acquired by Delta Capacity as a ready-to-build asset from Helios Nordic Energy; construction has already begun.

“Together, these 600 MWh projects mark an important step in our long-term collaboration and strengthen our position in the Nordic energy market.”
Earlier this year, Sungrow and Delta Capacity signed a 1 GWh framework agreement, which Sungrow said has now been fulfilled through supplies for the Karppio and AKKU One projects.
