Chinese solar and storage giant JA has expanded its European commercial and industrial (C&I) battery energy storage system (BESS) range with JAPlanet Fusion and JAPlanet 2.0.
The JAPlanet Fusion was announced in China in June and now has confirmed European availability, specifications, and certifications. Both will be available for pre-order in Europe “from the second half of September 2026,” implying pre-orders are now possible.

The new C&I product is a 125 kW / 261 kWh DC-coupled hybrid solar and storage system. It combines the inverter, battery and backup functions in one cabinet. The system accepts up to 250 kW of solar PV input across 20 strings and 10 maximum power point trackers (MPPTs). Its AC output can be set to meet a site’s permitted grid export limit.
In backup mode, an integrated static transfer switch detects a grid failure and transfers the system to off-grid operation within 10 ms, according to JA. Up to 10 units can operate in parallel on-grid, or six off-grid.
JA said the Fusion system also uses liquid cooling, temperature, smoke and gas monitoring, aerosol fire suppression, and redundant ventilation. The company said it has undergone system-level UL 9540A testing.
“Across Europe, there is a growing opportunity to upgrade ageing solar assets with more powerful technology, but grid constraints can make increasing generation complicated and time-consuming. At the same time, businesses are looking for greater control over their energy use, as well as resilience against grid interruptions,” said Ignacio Espinosa Gil, head of JA’s European technical team.
“JAPlanet Fusion has been developed with this next generation of C&I projects in mind. By integrating solar, storage and rapid backup functionality into a single system, we can give our partners a more streamlined approach to system design and deployment, while enabling greater solar utilisation and resilience from existing site infrastructure.”
JAPlanet 2.0: updated AC-coupled BESS
JAPlanet 2.0 is the latest version of the company’s AC-coupled C&I system. Like the earlier JAPlanet, it is rated at 125 kW / 261 kWh and uses 314 Ah cells and liquid cooling. The new sheet specifies a maximum round-trip efficiency of more than 90%, compared with 90% on the earlier sheet. JA also says the 2.0 can deliver rated output without derating at ambient temperatures up to 50°C.
The 2.0 spec sheet lists an operating range of −25°C to 55°C, black-start capability and support for fully unbalanced three-phase output in backup mode. It specifies up to 20 units in parallel on-grid and nine off-grid. The cabinet weighs approximately 2,700 kg, compared with approximately 2,800 kg in the earlier specification.
JA says its thermal management strategy reduces auxiliary power consumption by 20% compared with conventional systems. The new sheet also describes remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates. It lists temperature, smoke and gas detection with aerosol fire suppression, and says the system has undergone multiple levels of UL 9540A testing. An external static transfer switch is listed as compatible, with switching within 20 ms.
