Romanian EPC contractor Parapet has begun construction on a 50 MW / 100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Dumbrava-Deal, Neamț County, Romania.
The project, owned by European investment platform MetaWealth, is scheduled to enter commercial operation in spring 2027 according to the companies involved, with the BESS comprising 20 battery storage units and five power conversion system (PCS) units. A new 20 / 110 kV high-voltage substation equipped with a 63 MVA transformer will also be constructed.
In a joint statement, Parapet and MetaWealth said civil works have commenced on site, while equipment deliveries are progressing, including the Kehua medium-voltage PCS skids set to arrive at the Port of Constanța.
MetaWealth founder and CEO Michael Topolinski III said that the company “is on track to contribute 200 MWh across the first two assets.” Separately, MetaWealth is also developing the 48 MW / 100 MWh Sânpaul project in Mureș County, which is targeting commercial operation in Q3 2027.
Parapet is currently implementing energy storage projects totaling 514 MWh across three Romanian counties, including the 127 MW / 254 MWh Scornicești BESS in Olt County, where it is working with R.Power’s in-house EPC management team.
Paul Moldovan, founder of Parapet, stated that the latest project with MetaWealth was a natural progression for the company.
“For Parapet, our involvement in the Dumbrava-Deal project is a natural continuation of our experience in building energy infrastructure and, at the same time, a confirmation of the direction in which the market is evolving: from projects based solely on generation to integrated solutions in which generation, storage and grid infrastructure work together,” said Moldovan.
