Independent power producer Econergy has acquired a portfolio of four operational battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in the UK, totaling 106 MW.
Under the agreement, disclosed in a filing to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE), Econergy said it has acquired 100% of the shares in the holding company that owns the four assets, giving it full ownership and control of the portfolio. The company said the projects are expected to generate around £4.7 million in EBITDA in 2027 before planned augmentation works.
The four standalone BESS facilities, located in England, currently have a one-hour duration (106 MWh total), with Econergy evaluating plans to augment the systems to three-hour duration (~318 MWh). Econergy didn’t name the seller, and public registry transfer filings have not been made to Companies House yet.
Econergy said the longer duration would allow the assets to capture additional value by storing more energy and dispatching it over a longer period, thus providing greater flexibility to respond to changing market conditions by shifting electricity to times of stronger demand.
The acquisition increases Econergy’s operational UK BESS capacity from 90 MW to 196 MW, as the company expands from two to six assets that are connected to the grid.
Econergy’s existing UK operational assets include the 50 MW / 100 MWh Swangate BESS in West Melton, Yorkshire, England, which entered operation in 2024, and the 40 MW / 120 MWh Dalmarnock project in Glasgow, Scotland, which connected to the grid in October 2026.
“We’re pleased to be purchasing these four projects, which represent a business opportunity with clear upside,” said Eyal Podhorzer, CEO and director of Econergy.
“The addition of 106 MW of operational storage capacity and the potential to augment the assets to three-hour duration gives us a pathway to build on the portfolio and develop its longer-term value. Alongside our existing assets, and those in development, these projects strengthen our foothold in the UK and a growing platform for further expansion.”
The company said it has a 1.6 GW UK energy storage development pipeline. Across Europe, its BESS portfolio totals 5.9 GW, with 3.3 GW expected to be connected to the grid, under construction or pre-construction by 2028.
