MaxSolar, Saft partner on battery storage project in Germany

MaxSolar and Saft have signed an agreement for the Quitzow II battery energy storage project in Brandenburg, Germany, marking the start of a broader strategic partnership between the two companies aimed at battery storage developments across Europe.

The project, developed by Denker & Wulf AG, will have 30 MW of power capacity and 76.5 MWh of storage capacity, and MaxSolar will deliver it as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner on a turnkey basis.

The battery system will be built alongside an existing wind farm and its substation, making use of existing grid infrastructure. Saft will supply the battery technology for the project. The companies said the agreement follows a meeting between their leadership teams at Intersolar Europe 2026, where they formalized the broader partnership.

MaxSolar CEO Christoph Strasser said large-scale battery storage is becoming an increasingly important component of a more stable and resilient energy system. He said the company views battery energy storage system (BESS) technology as a key element of future energy infrastructure projects and that its cooperation with Saft will focus on quality, reliability, and long-term development.

MaxSolar said it has a project pipeline of 6.1 GW across six locations in Germany. Saft is a wholly owned subsidiary of TotalEnergies.
